Comic Scripts

"Ode"Precis: At FanExpo 2013, I met Peter Steigerwald and
had a conversation with him while he was at the Aspen booth working on a
commission. That conversation gave me an idea and I went home and began to
write. Eight hours later I had this script complete. I printed it out and
submitted it to Peter – put it right in his hand. Unfortunately, I never heard
back from him about it. I still like this story and believe that it is a
testament to my ability as a writer… what you see is what I came up with on the
fly, in eight hours with only editing happening during the writing process. After working
with Daniel Rodrigo and David Gunawan on separate comic books, I now know that
this script would be a lot longer than a 22-page comic… more like a 48-page
comic. If I ever catch a break, one day I hope to polish this script up and
produce it as a comic. I am also very serious about rewriting it as a short
story.

The story of Ode focuses on the Minoan legend of the Minotaur and connects the discovery of Quattrocento perspective in Art with ancient Minoan and Egyptian religions and mythology.
"Aphrodite 0" (or Aphrodite Zero)
This comic script was put together for the Top Cow talent search. I didn't place which was super disappointing. However, the script was extremely well-researched and presents a possible origins for the Aphrodite project. I reference familiar historical events and believe that this brings an epic quality to the story, as well as making the script fun to read. Any artist that finds this script and is interested in producing sequentials should contact me. I would very much like to collaborate.

The Individuals!
I had an idea to take old comic books and then blank out the speech bubbles and add a new script. I decided to go with political satire for the tone. The story is about a maligned and underappreciated superhero team known as "The Individuals". They fight to wake up regular people from ideological-based mental slumber. "The Sorrows" is the arch-villain and controls mainstream media. "The Don Jr." and "Strumpette" are aristocratic villains while "Matriarchy" is a villain that believes she is a hero. The "Fey Gits" are a gang of villains that seek to spread collectivist socialism through identity politics and witch hunting. The "Red Devil" is an anti-hero that seeks to help but usually does more harm than good mainly through being self-piteous.
I planned on completing an entire issue but ended up with half a dozen pages. I may return to this project.

Transvengers!
The original idea for "The Individuals" (see above) came from a quick re-scripting I did for one of the Batman vol.2 pages (part of the New 52 reboot of the DC comic book universe). I posted my scripting for that page to Greg Capullo's deviantart page in 2011. The tongue-in-cheek treatment was an amusing diversion for me. Recently, I came back to those Capullo sequentials and created a new satire - "The Transvengers"!
